What Causes Severe Itching On The Head?
Question: Hi, I have been having severe itching on my head since I started taking Invokana. I have changed nothing else. I did have one yeast infection which has been cured. Could my scalp itch because of Invoka?

Hi and thanks for the query,
I understand this could be very disturbing. I am afraid this is probably not a common side effect, or very unlikely to be related to Invokana. When the drugs causes skin manifestations,, of course rare, rashes and rarely itches in isolation are observed.
A local cause should be searched for. I really suggest a physical exam of the scalp. Anti itching drugs (like Anti histamic drugs like Phernegan sold over the counter) could be take for relief as you await to see your doctor.
The coincidence of the itching and the drug initiation makes Invokana a probable cause. However, without rashes on the head, its a rare side effect of the drug. A clinical exam of the scalp is needed.
If the scalp is red and with rashes, the drug could be incriminated. With no redness nor rashes, it unlikely.
