Welcome to this site!
I am Dr V XXXXXXX I practice as a Sr Consultant Dermatologist.
I have noted your concerns.
Your description matches dermatitis due to age and secondly because of possibility of inadequate ventilation of the said area.
I will suggest you some measures which have worked very well in most of my elderly patients.
1 The area should be thoroughly cleaned, soaps are not essential, but plenty of water without any antis pectic additive, followed by thorough drying. Powders do not help except for a short period.
2 If you have been using hydrocortisone or Clobetasol, stop their regular use immediately and gradually reduce the frequency and dose of application till you are no longer using them. These are habit forming and their withdrawal is accompanied by severe itching which needs to be suppressed with anti allergic medication.
3 Anti allergic like cetirizine or whatever suits you for itching needed
4 Crotamiton preparations are non habit forming and good at control of itching and can also be sued off and on.
5 loose undergarments and avoidance of sweat in the area will help early recovery.
