Question: When food is in my colon I break out into a full body sweat which soaks my clothes, generates so much heat that my pillow and bed get hot and when I deficate(sp?) my eyes pulse with white lights. I have a rash on my neck face and declotte(sp?) with red , dry welts feels like sandpaper and I pulse with heat which generates into my face with swelling of my eyes and cheeks. I am exhausted, cannot sleep. I wake up every two hours in a full sweat at night. Had an attack today where I could not catch my breath.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to hormone depletion.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. It seems that you have an autonomic overactivity (autonomic nervous system controls many involuntary actions of our body). A step by step approach needs to be taken. The first step would be to get your heart rate and blood pressure checked. The next step would be to get your blood tested for thyroid profile. A thorough neurological examination is also required and I suggest that you visit a doctor for the same. Based on the evaluation your doctor would be able to suggest proper investigations and can intervene accordingly. Discuss with your doctor about prescribing anxiolytics like alprazolam since they can provide relief.

Your presentations could also be related to hormone depletion. If that is the case, hormone replacement therapy can provide relief.

Feel free to write back.

I stopped my hormone therapy and the very hot sweating went away somewhat. I took a very low dose and it came back with sweating all night and constant flushing all day. That is when I emailed you. It is frightening. This has been going on for about three years. At first it was mild and now horrible. They removed a polyp in my colon a year ago. It was not cancer, but it is the kind that could have been. I am afraid to go to the doctor because I went before I had the polyp removed and the doctor in the emergency room brutalized me. He obviously has mother issues. He took his hand and put it in the glove up high, snapped the glove and yelled rectal exam and proceeded to shove his fist up my colon. I had done an olive oil enema and had no stool. He pushed so hard until he reached some and I was screaming. I think he tore my colon because I have to hold it when I have to defecate. It bulges out. To treat a 61 year old woman like that is very wrong. I even told him that my doctor suspected carcinoid syndrome and the literature said that if you pop a carcinoid tumor, you die. He didn't care. Urine tests said I did not have carcinoid. I feel like I am dying. I am very sick.

Brief Answer:
I would like to reassure you.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for the inadvertent delay in replying.

I understand your concerns. I understand that not all doctors are equally gentle, caring and modest. But I also assure you that there are plenty of good doctors who would treat you well. It is not a good idea not to go to a doctor. You have the option of trying a different doctor and I am sure that the new doctor would not be that bad. It is perhaps quite important for you to go for a proper hormone replacement therapy and some simple interventions will make you feel fine.

I would always be there to assist you. Feel free to write back directly to me if you ever have a health related query in the future.

Regards
