What Causes Severe Bloating, Gas, Vomiting And Upper Abdominal Pain After Eating?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Jun 2016
Question: I have a question for someone familiar with lap bands. For the last 3 days, whenever I eat I experience severe bloating, gas and pain in my upper abdomen. Very distended. Does not matter how little or what I eat. Keeping me up all night in pain. No blood in vomit or stools but I want to have this thing removed. I think it has moved and I have been vomiting about 20" after meals when the food goes through to the lower stomach and then the vomiting is aggressive and severe. I can feel it come through the band like a Venturi. Should I seek help tonight?

C. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any.

D. Antacids like Digene or Gelusil syp, 2tsp in 50ml of water three to four times a day half an hour before food.
You can also take capsule omeprazole 20 mg once daily empty stomach, before breakfast for a week.
T address the vomiting antiemetic is required like ondensetrone or domperidone, this are prescription based agents you need to get a valid prescription from local doctor.

E. Maintain a gap of atleast 2 hrs in between dinner and going to bed.
F. Avoid spicy and oily food for few days till the symptoms are resolved.
G. Avoid or reduce the intake of meat, dairy products, and add more fiber to your diet. Eat lots salads, vegetables, fresh fruits,
H. You can take probiotics like Sporolac or Ecobion which will be beneficial and you can take curd.
