What Causes Red Colored Growths On Penis And White Blisters On Tongue?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: Doctor,

I noticed a growth on my penis on XXXXXXX 5th, 2014. It was red and shiny and flat. I also saw white blisters on the side of my tongue and under my upper lip. At first I thought it was a wart. My general practitioner did not know what it was. A couple of days later, I felt what I thought were the beginnings of prodrome symptoms for HsV2.

I had unprotected genital contact (skin on skin, no intercourse) on March 26th, 2014. after I saw this growth, I started having prodrome symptoms. I even had a tender groin and swollen lymph nodes. I was convinced that I had Herpes 2.

I had an IgG blood test done yesterday XXXXXXX 11th, 2014. The tests came back negative for antibodies on both HSV1 and HsV2.

1.) If I were I in prodrome stage with inguinal inflammation, does that mean that my body was generating anti-bodies to an infection?

2.) If so, would the IgG test pick up on those anti-bodies?

3.) The dermatologist I saw says the growth on my glans is probably Lichen Planus. Would that have caused my prodromal symptoms?

4.) Is it possible that I have Lichen Planus while at the same time feeling the prodromal symptoms of HSV2?

If you would, please answer each question individually. Thank you very much.

Doctor,

They did a biopsy of my penile lump. It looks like a crater in my penis now. I can't send you a picture. It won't help.

Can you answer my IgG and antibody questions?

Brief Answer:
prodromes can vary

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
You had an exposure almost two and half months back.
By this time antibodies would have been definitely formed.
You go for Ig M antibody test and not IgG.
IgM is formed first and then IgG is formed.
It is possible to have lichen planus and prodrome of herpes.
Don't go by prodromal symptoms.
Wait for biopsy results. It can give the definitive diagnosis.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you
