Question: I am 74, recently had pneumonia. Had two rounds of steroids, and other antibiotics. I am still coughing and having clear phlegm. This has been over a course of two to three months. Some days are worse than others.

Brief Answer:
no need to worry about

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM

I can understand your concern

As you explain the history i don't think you need treatment anymore.

If the color of phlegm is clear and the amount is small than no need to worry about.

Usually it takes sometime for the pneumonia to resolve completely in patients in your age group.

Probably an acidic reflux from the stomach might be another cause of the cough lasting.

However in your case i recommend you to wait and to monitor the cough.

It should be in improvement which means more rare and the sputum less.If your clinical picture is stabilized than nothing else to do.

If not than repeat a chest x Ray to evaluate better the lungs again.

Regards and feel free to ask me again
