Brief Answer: NOt a melanoma! Detailed Answer: Hi and thank you so much for this query. I have taken a look at the uploaded images. This is in no way a melanoma. It is not a malignant process and more likely represents an acute benign infectious process of the nail bed. What has changed recently? any pains? warmth? Should you have pains and signs of inflammation, there may be need for antibiotics to control the soft tissue infection of the nail bed. If it is something else on the image that bothers you and not the nail changes and the redness at the base, please draw my attention to that. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.

I have had major pains in the testicle and groin buttocks area. This has gone on for many years. I do have a cyst on my lower chest however it has not grown for many years. Its the size of a half dollar. 2 years ago I had a cat scan mri they saw a minor fatty liver and the cyst. This amark on my nail recently appeared lessthen a year ago. When I took the picture of my finger. I pressed dow so the line could be more visible.

Brief Answer: Do you smoke? Detailed Answer: I am not particularly worried about this white line. They exist in a good number of persons and with no other symptoms, there is really no reason to get worried. With the image not representing the standard reality, I may be over emphasizing on what I should not at this time. However, I will suggest that you get the pain in your testicle and groin area investigated for diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Start wit a general physician and he would assess the need for specialized care and do that if necessary. Thanks. Dr. Ditah, MD.

Brief Answer: Thanks for your kind words! Detailed Answer: I asked about smoking because the nails seem to have suggested a case of chronic poor oxygen supply. Because you have quit, it is great and you would get a lot better. Because they found no abnormality, observing for now is the single and best thing to do. Should more information arise and suggest otherwise, we would be accommodating that into future investigations.I asked about smoking because the nails seem to have suggested a case of chronic poor oxygen supply.
