Question: Hi dr, I have swollen feet and ankles and back pain and my abdómen is bloated for 4 days now I feel exhausted and want to sleep all the time even at work, Ifeel pain on my ankles, legs and feet; I tested for diabetes and did several blood work tests everything was normal-but I dont feel normal i dont look normal,whats wrong with me

Sorry to hear about your symptoms. Noted that you had many normal blood works. But did that include a thyroid function test? Lithium is known to cause thyroid dysfunction. Could you attach the reports of your blood works if possible?

Dr....Lithium was in the normal range...white blood cell count was a bit high...ALT was 70, LKCS was 13, Neutrophils 9.6, Immature Grans 0.2

The thyroid is normal, I am late 8 days in my period, but blood work and tests show that im ot pregnant; im married and doctor says im able to have children; I don't have any yet...so I don't know what it feels like to be pregnant???my question is could I be pregnant without even knowing it and without the blood work or test showing it...?
Imeant to say im not pregnant according to blood work results and test,ive never been, could I be? with these symptoms,what should I do? Could it be the lithium that is making the tests go negative? Please help i'm a big woman I weigh almost 300 pounds, I need to loose weight and my height is 5'10 -i'm obese I know its terrible I need to control what I eat. I don't drink alcohohol and I don't smoke at all-that is good-please help!

Not pregnant

Detailed Answer:
If the blood and urine tests show that you are not pregnant, then pregnancy is unlikely. Do not worry. Most of your problems like feet swelling, tiredness, exhaustion etc could be due to weight gain itself. Even the high ALT could be due to fatty liver associated with obesity.

Even though lithium level are normal, it still can cause thyroid dysfunction. However, as your thyroid blood works are normal, not to worry.

You seems to be very anxious. Need to find ways to control it. Anxiety and depression contribute to weight gain significantly.
