What Causes Pain On Right Side Of Throat And Ear?
Question: Hello Doctor,
For last 1 month , I am suffering with a moderate pain in my right side of throat and right ear. I have consulted ENT and ENT couldn't figure out anything suspicious. THe pain is intermittent , and I dont think the pain is there while sleeping, coz I dont feel any discomfort when wake up but it starts after that. Bit nervous since I am a smoker. The ENT told me that i could be GRED or congestion

1. A Videolaryngoscopy (VL'Scopy) will settle the diagnosis.
2. The signs of GERD, allergy and pharyngitis are well seen on VL'Scopy. Upload images or the video for an accurate assessment.
3. Throat cancer does not usually start with pain. The symptoms will be progressive and not intermittent.
4. If the ear is normal, then the ear pain is a referred pain sensation due to common nerve supply between the throat and the ear. Specifically, pyriform fossa pain is referred to the ear on that side.
5. Routine medication should settle your symptoms. If the pain is worse on swallowing it may be a neuralgia. Neuralgia requires different painkillers.

Have you seen my CBC report attached, Just to clarify.. Intermittent means not intermittent days but hours.. or some times no pain at all but the next moment I can feel it.
