General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Throat infection can surely raise the WBC count as body's reaction and can be due to secondary bacterial infection.

If you are young then there is nothing to worry about cancer as cancer is never painful in the beginning days. Request your doctor to give your prescription based antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines. Povidone Iodine gargles. Plenty of oral fluids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
