Brief Answer:
Multiple Causes

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way.
There are multiple causes of pain in right lower abdomen. Most common cause is appendicitis followed by UTI & gyecological problem (in case of female). Fever suggests that condition is acute inflammatory. I would be in a better position to guide you if you answer following questions:
1. What is your age & sex
2. Did such problem occur in past as well?
3. Are you on any kind of medication?
4. Is there history of nausea or vomiting as well?
5. If female, are you menstruating or in menopausal state?
6. Any history of constipation, diarrhea or burning micturation?

I will be looking forward for the answers to conclude the discussion in the best interest of yours.
Thank You

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Rauf,

Thank you for your reply. I am 51 years old, female.
Never had problem before, no.
No medications - BUT I did lose 80 lbs in the past year and was stalled in losing weight so I did take Dexatrim for only two weeks and stopped. A few days later this started.
No Nausea/ or vomiting.
Have not had a menstrual period in about 18 months
I was feeling constipated and have never had that probem either before. On the
third day I took a Ducolax, for the first time ever. It worked and I felt some relief but the nagging pain keeps returning. Thank you so much for your time.

Brief Answer:
Urinary Tract Problem/Appendicitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. My provisional diagnosis in your case will be urinary tract problem & appendicitis. If both these conditions are ruled out then it could be muscular spasm as well. I would suggest you to visit hospital once. There doctors will run some basic tests like CBC, ultrasound abdomen & urine complete examination along with physical examination. These will tell where is the pathology. Results of the tests will decide the treatment process. If all of them are ruled out then it could be muscular spasm for which simple analgesics will work. At the moment i will not recommend any pain killer because it will make more difficult for doctors to examine at the hospital as key sites of pain while examination helps alot in reaching the diagnosis. Meanwhile i would suggest following general measures:
> Avoid lifting heavy weight
> Take hot water in a rubber bottle and place it at the site of pain. It will give soothing effect.
> Drink adequate fluids (water & fresh juices)

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it. Feel free to contact me directly on HCM by visiting http://goo.gl/fxj9bG
