Brief Answer:
Pinched nerve / Sciatica

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Pain radiation involving buttocks, leg and calf muscles and heels indicate a pinched nerve likely sciatica. You will need an MRI of lumbosacral spine to localise the nerve root compression and then get managed accordingly.

Age related articular degenerations are very notorious for such entrapment neuropathies and result in such complaints. NSAIDs, neurotonics, physiotherapy exercises, some rest and if need be some epidural steroid injections are some of the conservative options you can opt for. Talk to your doctor and let them decide what is best for you.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan

If left un-treated for a period of time what might be expected, for I have an appointment with my Doctor in (2) weeks??? If waiting is a reasonable option what should I do in the interim???

Brief Answer:
Wait, take ibuprofen and rest.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

With leaving it untreated only thing that could be of concern in two weeks is the pain. if you can bear it then no worries. Otherwise take ibuprofen till the appointment. Its not an emergency so yes you can wait for 2 weeks with no worries. But once the appointment comes let them run all the work up needed to sort out the cause of the pain.

Nutshell, you can wait with out any worries and till then during interim period prefer adequate painkillers NSAIDs available OTC and some rest.

I hope it helps.
