Question: I have had colonoscopy every four years for 20 years. Lately when I wipe after a bowel movement there is residue on my underwear after wiping and wiping. My Dr. recommended Fiber Con. It helps sometimes. But it does not feel like a complete movement either. I have diverstiulosis.

Brief Answer:
Probiotic and fiber should help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

Such strange symptom is very often caused not by stool itself, but mucus with some stool.
Mucus can be seen in the stool or instead of stool when bowel movement is irregular.
So constipation or diarrhea can be the case. As you have diverticles, you must have some stool problems (constipation most likely).
That is why, probiotic along with fiber intake are the best methods to eliminate the problem.
As you have diverticles, you should also try Rifaximine treatment ( 3 times a day for 7 days).

Hope this helps.
Regards.
