Question: Hi Doctor, I got my last period on 25th XXXXXXX I had unprotected sex with my BF but he did not ejaculate inside me. I took strip test for pregnancy and it was negative. I took Deviry for 5 days (after dinner, i.e., total 5 tablets). Its been 8 days since I stopped the tablets. Please suggest the course of action. Do I need to restart Deviry? I have metabolic syndrome and It was detected after my last period. I am on meds since then. Below are the medicines I am taking for metabolic syndrome: 1) Metsmall 2) Orlean 3) Tayo. Please suggest. Brief Answer: Do repeat strip test,no need to continue deviry Detailed Answer: Hello there, Welcome to HCM, Thanks for writing to us, I have gone through your query, It is usually normal for persons who are already diagnosed with PCOD and metabolic syndrome to have missed periods once in two or three months, but if you had unprotected vaginal intercourse (with or without ejaculation) the possibility of pregnancy has to be ruled out. As you already done an UPT/strip test (urine pregnancy test), but didn’t mentioned when you have done the test, so I advise you to do a repeat UPT, if it is absent by now, it practically nullify your chances of being pregnant. No need to continue deviry tablets(medroxy progesterone acetate),as you already completed the course , withdrawal bleed as to be by now, but in your case there are chances that PCOD might preventing the bleeding. So do not panic, do an UPT again, if it is positive, consultant a gynaecologist and have further assistance. Take care. Dr.surendiran.g
