What Causes Memory Loss And Difficulty In Speaking After A Stroke?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Dec 2015
Question: I am 99.9% sure I had a XXXXXXX stroke Wednesday. The symptoms only lasted about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Started out, my vision was dropping the ends of numbers and letters. I thought it was my computer, but, went to other things then thought it was my glasses, but, even taking them off, everything on the "end" of anything was gone. Trying to talk and losing words started. After 10 minutes of trying to have a conversation and I was having trouble even coming up with words started to scare me. Then my husband told me to say the alphabet and I could only go to "p" and couldn't remember any more. Couldn't say a simple nursery rhyme. I was scarred as all get out, but, everything came back and all I've had is mild headache since then - off and on. But, I'm not so sure that's not from stressing myself out over what happened. I don't have insurance and can't afford to go in because they will run precautionary tests that I can' afford. I'm okay now. I have a holistic wellness practitioner that has me taking quite a bit of turmeric, a b-complex stress vitamin, drinking lots of water, taking a few tinctures too. My question is - I had plans to fly from XXXXXXX OH to XXXXXXX TX for the holiday. Do you think I'd be okay? My family is all up in arms saying I should not.

Brief Answer:
You should get a brain MRI done/Neurological examination. Can go on holiday.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.

Of course, you can go on a holiday(albeit with some friend or family member) but something wrong that you are doing is -not getting yourself investigated.

You must get a Brain MRI to see for the changes of stroke,if any.Because,if it was a stroke or even transient ischemic attack, then you have to be on medicines to prevent further such episode. This is notable because a stroke or a mini-stroke increases the chances of strokes in future.

I,for now, suggest you to visit a physician for a history and examination. He will likely facilitate a brain MRI.

If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
