What Causes Lump On Chin Post Injury?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: My daughter is 14 mos and a couple of months ago she fell when she was learning to walk and hit her chin. There was a lump and it finally disappeared after about 2 weeks. She recently fell and bumped it again, not as bad this time and there was no swelling. But i feel a hard bump and it looks a tiny bit bruised but not very noticeable. The only reason I even noticed it is because she is getting her molars in and ive been checking in on those and massaging her agums. I definitely plan to take her to see her pediatrician soon, but since it's Saturday I am just wondering if I should be worried and get her care sooner? She does not show any signs of being in pain.

Brief Answer:
This could just be a small hematoma/ fibrosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

You need not worry. It just seems just to be a hematoma or blood clot collection or a fibrosis of that injury couple of months ago. But I understand your concern. But I take this opportunity to counsel you regarding any injury relating to head -
I will suggest you danger signs of head injury -
1. Vomiting continuously
2. Seizures
3. Watery of bloody discharge from ears and nose
4. Unconsciousness
5. Altered sensorium or behaviour.

As none of these are present, you need not worry. No need to take her to emergency room sooner. It will settle by itself.

I suggest you send over the photo of the injured part so that I can reassure you further more precisely.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
