What Causes Long Sightedness After A Cataract Surgery?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Sep 2016
Question: I had cataract surgery on my right eye this past Monday August 22, 2016.The Doctor told me the surgery went well.I can now see fine for distances, I can drive , without glasses, for the first time in twenty years. But there is a problem that has emerged.I find that I cannot read well, I barely can see up close print.I have cataract surgery on the second eye set fo September 8, 2016. After the second eye cataract surgery is over, will it be possible for me to obtain comfortable glasses (I don`t care if they are bifocals) that enable me to read well and also see distances?Right now, I am using drug store readers , and I don`t like them at all.Even with the readers, I can't read very well, and objects are blurry if they are more than five feet away. And I don`t like having to slide the readers on my nose. All I want is to be able to use a pair of well fitting comfortable glasses to read with and see objects in the near distance. My gosh, I don`t want to lose my favorite activity of reading due to the cataract surgery. After the second surgery, do you think I'll be able to find prescription glasses that fit comfortably and allow me to read and see objects within five to ten feet in front of me?

Brief Answer:
Proper glasses needed

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.

Normally after a good surgery you are supposed to see well for distance and about +2.5 glass is needed for reading.

In case you are using drug store glass, then the other eye glass is unsuitable for you as those glasses have same power in both the eyes.

Please have a proper glass. You have had a good surgery that's the reason you are seeing well for distance.. Go ahead with the other eye surgery. We, in our practice give glasses after 4 weeks as we allow the power to settle. Do not hurry things up and wait a while to have proper glasses.

Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Brief Answer:
Proper glades needed

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Good of you to get back to me.
Ideally you will be more comfertable than before.Though I do not have the exact details of type of lens put in your eyes, normally we calculate the power for distance and supplement reading with glasses ..So all you need now is a correct glass to give you 100% comfort.
Wait for 3 to 4 weeks. after surgery for things to settle down. Continue with medication. We must allow nature to play it's role.

I read a lot on my job.For the past week, I have not been able to do my job well because my reading ability is so impaired due to the August 22,2016 cataract surgery. The cataract surgery on the other eye , the left eye, is set for September7, 2016.When do you think I`ll be able to wear a pair of glasses that sits comfortably on my face and allows me to read and see distances(I can see distances now after the right eye cataract)?

Brief Answer:
Use a correct pair of glasses

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Good of you to get back to me.

If things are so important, please get a correct pair of glasses made and start using them now. The Only difference being that since not enough time has been given, that power may change early. So please be prepared for that. All you need to see well is to have a correct pair of glass.

In most cases full vision is there within one week after surgery.
