What Causes Itching On Chest,back,legs And Scalp?

Question: I am itching under my skin, chest,back,legs,scalp. Itching will not stop. I cannot get any sleep from itching. What medication can I use to stop this type of itching. I have no visible skin irrations on my chest, back, scalp or face.

Hello and thank you for your question.

Benadryl will help stop the itching and help with sleep but you also need to see a doctor and get an exam and some blood tests done. If benadryl does not help then you will need prescription medicine according to cause. Sometimes liver irritation or disease can cause severe itching.

Try the benadryl, take cool showers (hot will make itching worse), avoid rubbing the itchy areas ad see a doctor soon. If you drink any alcohol or take tylenol it would be a good idea to stop that until you see a doctor and make sure that your liver tests are okay. Do not take more than the recommended dosage of benadryl. Do not drive while taking it as it can make you sedated.

I just had a Endoscopy Procedure done this past Wednesday January 28th 2015 and a Steel Stent was placed inside my Colon area, I think this the correct term.
