Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

A 3 to 4 mm stone is small usually will not cause obstruction and I hope you have got done the ultrasound scan recently confirming it as a 3 to 4 mm stone. Rarely it might cause an obstruction. It is important to know the location of the stone and if it is causing any obstruction to passage of urine from kidney.

If the report does not mention hydronephrosis in the kidney then the stone in your kidney is not causing any obstruction at present and does not require any specific medication in the absence of any symptoms.

If there is a mention of hydronephrosis which means urinary obstruction then you should consult the urologist immediately.

However you might choose to follow instructions below to avoid any more stones in your kidneys and to cause the stone to disappear.

DOs for kidney stones
(i) Drinking as much as 1.5 to 2.5 liters a day may help flush out your urinary system. This will also allow small stones to pass through.
(ii) Visit washrooms regularly and empty your bladder when you feel like doing urination.
(iii) Please take fruits like apple, papaya, watermelon, pineapple, sweetlime, bananas and orange, vegetables like, white gourd, ladyfinger, pumpkin, pulses and legumes.
(v) If you have sharp pain then you should consult your doctor and take pain reliever medications under strict supervision.

DONTs for kidney stones
(i) Please avoid holding urine for long intervals.
(ii) Please reduce foods containing oxalates like non veg, vegetables like spinach, tomato, cauliflower, brinjals, nuts like cashew, pista and almonds.
(iii) Decrease extra salt in foods.
(iv) Avoid spicy pickles.
(v) Please eat meat products in normal amounts, avoid eating too much.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Medicine is right but please send your latest ultrasound report to discuss

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

1. The 1 mm stone is very small to cause any symptoms. The 5 mm stone is also fixed in a location in the upper pole of kidney and not causing any obstruction to passage of urine.

2. The medicines given to you are as right

K cit syrup is to prevent urinary infection
Levofloxacin is antibiotic and given for infection
citralka is to make the urine alkaline and reduce urine acidity
urispas is for pain relief in the urinary system

The above medicines are to be taken only when you have infection and after asking doctor.

Tamgress is an alpha blocker and relaxes the bladder outlet and ureter muscles. It causes passage of any small stones and also treats bladder outlet obstruction. Tamgress can be taken for a longer duration and with medical supervision.

3. It is important for you to drink lots of fluids and water and pass urine frequently.

4. I want to know your age and if you have prostate enlargement. If possible please send your recent ultrasound scan report.

5. If you send me your latest ultrasound scan report then I will discuss in more detail

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Brief Answer:
Please increase fiber content in diet and follow instructions below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. It looks like you are having constipation and the bleeding is due to straining when passing motions.

2. Please drink a glass of warm water when you wake up in early morning.

3. This will stimulate your bowels and cause smooth passage of stools.

4. During the day also drink at least 2 liters of water and fluids.

5. Reduce amount of processed foods like bread, non vegetarian food, noodles and items cooked in maida because these might cause hard stools and constipation. Eat more of natural foods like wheat flour, fruits and vegetables containing fiber.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
