Posted on Tue, 24 Nov 2015
Question: I had already mentioned my problem and paid.
is this related to that original problem.
I mentioned that although I was on fluoxetine , after a while intrusive thoughts an compulsions started bugging me.i told my doctor that I wanted to change to Lexapro.
I would like to know if you think that this s better choice and if it is ok to take it at night.
Thank you.
Hi Doctor,
Thsnk you so much for your reply.
This problem happened after a number of years after taking fluoxetine.
I had a dispute and one morning I awoke up thinking
about a past relationship and as though I was reliving some events,
I used to assume and distort things and had the tendency to question persons about him . I know that this is abnormal and embarrassing and had me feeling gloomy. Although I reason , I could not get around to solving this problem.Well this problem hs returned althoug I had forgotten him for over 40 years. He was married, it never bothered me , he died So I am wondering what is going on. Is this ocd?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Follow-up

Detailed Answer:
Given this information, it's less likely fluoxetine is the cause of this. And I don't think what you're describing is really OCD in nature. It may be you simply had some upsetting and somewhat strange thoughts about this person, but these have not risen to a persistently pathologic problem. Switching to Lexapro is still an option, but if fluoxetine has worked well for you for so long, maybe simply talking to someone about this issue could be just as curative, or more so, than medication.

If you do not have a therapist available in your area, I also could talk with you more about this issue, as I offer therapy at my private link below.
