Question: I have an intermittent buzzing sensation in the left side of the chest. I'm 67, slightly overweight, but I do exercise regularly and get checkups. What can be causing this buzzing? could it be a heart issue like a bad valve?

Brief Answer:
Not cardiac cause, mostly muscular.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Buzzing, if cardiac cause would be continuous and rarely can be felt. Heart valve related, would have precipitating infection as a cause and would be felt all the time and also, you would have severe breathlessness, if the valve disorder is high enough for you to appreciate.
2. Possibly not lung cause.
3. Mostly muscular. Possibly muscle twitching, maybe associated calcium deficiency. Calcium supplements and stretching will be helpful.

Will need details like
a. any precipitating cause
b. any specific time or after exercise?
c. any breathlessness
d. any recent severe infection

Also take adequate hydration along with supplements with stretching.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
