Brief Answer:
Cause should be found and treated

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Heavy bleeding with clots during the periods can be due to various reasons like:
1. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, which is due to hormonal changes in the endometrium.
2. Fibroid in the uterus
3. Adenomyosis in the uterus
4. Rarely, endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial carcinoma
5. Hematological problems like decreased platelets, altered coagulation profile
6. Hypothyroidism in initial phase.
I will suggest you to get your blood and thyroid hormone levels checked, an ultrasound done and if these are normal, then an endometrial biopsy should be done to confirm the diagnosis and further treatment should be done accordingly.
In the meantime, till you are able to consult a doctor, you can take tranexemic acid 500 mg tablet 3 times a day to decrease the flow during periods.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you both good health.
