What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding After A Tubal Ligation?

Posted on Thu, 18 Feb 2016
Question: Hi, I'm 34 year old female, I have had super heavy periods after my tubaligation with lots of large clotting and severe cramps . my Dr said he would do a hysterectomy, I am scheduled to go in for an exam on the 21st and to discuss my options. I am worried my hysterectomy might be rescheduled if I am about to start or have started my period. I cannot wait another month or few weeks to get this done i have been in nonstop pain for over 3 months now, will he reschedule it if I'm on my period?

Brief Answer:
Periods are not a reason to postpone the surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

I do not think he would reschedule the hysterectomy due to your periods.

Being on periods is not a contraindication for hysterectomy.

You can discuss your issues with your doctor without hesitation.

Wish you good health.

Take care.
