Brief Answer:
bright red- trauma, hemorrhoids, fissure

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bright red blood with bowel movements can most commonly be due to : (1) slight trauma to the anus with straining

(2)hemorrhoids

(3)anal fissure- which is a cut or small tear in the lining of the anus. Normally painful

If it continues then may need imaging (Eg colonoscopy or ba enema to check out the bowel)

Since the blood was seen after a large bowel movement then it is possible it is due to the first cause, slight trauma

You may want to try using a stool softener to see if having softer stools for a time would help.
This should only be for a short period of time because prolonged use of these agents can affect the bowel

Eg of stool softeners- ducolax, phillips liquid gels, colace, correctol

After a few days, increase your fiber intake so that you can avoid hard bowel movements in the future.
This means at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, whole grain foods.

Using enough fluids is also very important- caffeine drinks and alcohol do not count since they have a diurectic effect and cause the body to lose fluids

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
in some persons

Detailed Answer:
HI

Sorry about the late reply

Some persons may experience diarrhea with them, this does not occur with everyone.

If you are not comfortable using the softener then you can increase your fluids and fiber at this time and see if this is enough to help.

Please feel free to ask anything else
