What Causes Fluid In The Uterine Cavity?
Question: 65 yoa, ultrasound came back with tiny amount of fluid in the endometrium, but stripe measures 1.5 mm..no masses, ovaries ok...but free fluid in the cul de sac. I have ocassional lymphodema from surgery to remove urotheial carcinoma and left kidney in 2009...everything else is normal...does this sound like cancer reoccurrence

As such, a tiny amount of fluid in the endometrium is nothing to worry about, as long as the stripe is less than 4 mm in a post menopausal woman.
Free fluid in the cul de sac is also normal, as long as the amount is minimal and it is not a huge amount.
In short, there is nothing in the report to suggest a cancer recurrence.

THe scan is normal according to me.
There is a small amount of fluid inside the uterine cavity, to be on the safer side, you could have an endometrial biopsy which is a 2 minute office procedure.
ALso, the free fluid is minimal, therefore, not a cause for concern.
In addition to the scan, I would advice further intensive imaging with CT/ MRI , as the bladder has not been commented upon unequivocally.

Bladder was fine in March. Had cystoscope every 3 months since 2009. Have not had contrast scan for a couple of years...did not want contrast harming remaining kidney. Urology is scheduled for cystoscope July 18...it's this ultrasound that was basically a mistake...thought he has scheduled renal...then get a phone call to see GYNO.asap...it threw me for a loop

Mayo clinic in XXXXXXX ...seeing internal md....called when I got the you need specialist ASAP after having ultrasound where I live now...New Mexico....I was originally from northern MN...but after health scare thought I needed to be closer to daughter... It was a nightmare finding the original tumors on the ureters...they removed a small bladder tumor in northern Mn and I kept going back saying something is wrong...finally called mayo...by then it was too late to save the kidney...and it was low grade transisitonal cell...which I suppose could pop up again somewhere ....just trying to save the still good kidney...thanks again
