Question: Hello. My Name is XXXX I have a question regarding weight. My baby sister was inquiring a N.P. with regard to her weight gain after the birth of her second child. The person who was the N.P. was rude to my sister, and I feel the N.P. had no true regard for her overall health.
My question is; What is the best action for a young lady of 25, who is smaller in stature, but was prior to the second birth, very active?
Brief Answer:
Eat healthy & adopt an active life style.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for consulting us.
Excessive weight gain during pregnancy is a common problem. it is usually hard to loose after delivery because of the tiredness & responsibilities of a newborn baby.
There are many aggressive diet & exercise plans available to loose weight quickly, but remember these are not effective in the long run as you gain weight as soon as you are fed up or go off them.
Your question is giving me clues towards the answer that your sister was " very active" before the baby & probably now can't manage to be the same because of added responsibilities.
So, the best way for her is to resume her active life style & eat healthy.
Lots of fruits & vegetables, less fat & absolutely no junk food & refined sugar.
Drink plenty of water. Make a regular easy & manageable plan for exercise like for example walking, which is not likely to harm her.
An input from a dietitian is very important & helpful. Arrange that if possible.
Check her TSH levels ( Thyroid hormone levels) to rule out any Thyroid problem as a cause of her weight gain.
Remember a slower rate of weight loss is more likely to be longer lasting & harmless.
Wish you all the best.
Take care.
