What Causes Elevated CRP Levels While Having Uterine Fibroids?

Question: Hi . I Have several small fibroids in the uterus and strong bleedings. I Have done a blood test a few days after 8 days bleeding and CRP was high . Could it be a connetion with de exessive bleeding? My blood rate sedimentation was also high. Thank you very much.

I have read your question carefully and understand your health issue.

CRP is a blood test marker for inflammation in the body,or any infection .
And high levels of blood sedimentation rate show us for an infection in the body .
Usually they are both increased when an infection is present on a body.
Hence both of them may have relation with vaginal bleeding you are having.
The most common reason of high CRP with high blood sedimentation rate is Pelvic inflammatory diseases(PID).
Hence you should do a vaginal swab for sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Hi dra. The bleeding I was refering was my menstruation with strong flow since I have fibroids in the uterus and usually long and stong flow. Could this be a reason for my high CRP?

High CRP haven't relation with heavy vaginal bleeding during periods .
As I have mentioned above both high CRP and sedimentation rate are blood test marker for inflammation in the body or any infection.
Heavy vaginal bleeding may be due to fibroids ,especially if they are located at the sub-mucosal layer or inner layer of uterus.

Hi Dr. Vjollce
Thank´s for your answer. I understood now.
Maybe those two high values have to do with my spondiloarthritis but, strangely, it´s the first time I get those values high ( and I don't feel worse than usual) or have to do with my toe swollen ( maybe an a infection).

Yes, both high CRP and ESR may be to spondyloarthritis even though in most cases spondyloarthritis is not associated with high blood levels of CRP and ESR.
Hence you should contact with your Rheumatologist.

However, swollen toe can be due to a simple infection and can't cause high CRP and ESR.
