Question: Hi, I've been taking levetiracetam 250mg at 7am and 7pm per my Neurologist's RX. Since 6/14/2015.
The first time I took it started experiencing effects a coming and going a little amounts. dizziness, drowsiness,
headaches, tiredness, trouble sleeping. At night when I try to go to sleep, I can't and experience the following:
headache on the right hand side of the head above the right eye. tightness and the slightest pain in the chest, Tingling in the face, fingers, toes, ears, eyes, and everywhere on my body, like a panic attack. I also noticed a little soar in my mouth below my left bottom gums, but that could have come before I started taking the Levetiracetam. The above side effects are the ones I am having that I took of the medicines Prescription info sheet packed in with my L medicine at the drug store. Again the headaches, drowsiness, started immediately after taking the medication. However the trouble sleeping started 3 days after I started the medication. The Panic Attack tingeing, all over, increased heart beat, up to 90 or 88, and flushed feeling, all feeling like I am having a panic attack happen when I try to go to sleep. There is also tingling in my penis area in the legs and in the grownd area. Once this same type of Panic Attach happened at work during the day. These happen when I don't have worry or anything in particular on my mind, just working or trying to fall asleep. Since I told my neurologist that I was having headaches and couldn't sleep, and she said that was a normal side effect of the medicine. I have done the following things and it seems to temporally relive the panic attack feelings. Take 1 low dose aspirin, per my regular doctor for heart health, take one Tylenol and it eventually takes take of the headache. And the when the pains come back again in the morning it's time to take my high blood pressure medication, Ziac, and that also normalizes things before it's time to take my morning dose of Levetiracetam. The my side effects are worse at night time then during the day with the Levetiracetam medicine. I am going to my neurologists office tomorrow and see her and let her know about what is happening.
