Question: One year post partum

Generalized perineal discomfort examined and a swab showed bacterial vaginosis
Recently treated with flagyl for bacterial vaginosis
Still uncomfortable with unilateral labial dull aching pain & itchy burning near rectum (feels like a hemhroid would be described)

Brief Answer:
looks like fungal infection of perineum

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns about bacterial vaginosis.

Since you have already received treatment with flagyl, this should have subsided.

Reading your description this looks like fungal infection of perineum.

This needs to be evaluated by examination.

Menstrual cycle takes more than a year in some women to return. Hence don't worry about it.

I suggest you get examined by your doctor to check and confirm if this is fungal infection.

Please send me a picture of the areas you are describing so that I can advice you further. Yuo can upload the images on the right side of this page(if it is possible).

Regards
Dr. Soumya

Could what I am describing be HPV?
I have had an anal wart in the past which was treated and has not reoccurred. I did not feeling symptoms
When I had this I only discovered it visually.
I don't see anything now when checking & the Dr didn't mention anything abnormal during my exam....

Brief Answer:
This is not HPV

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is unlikely to be HPV. The pain and the symptoms will be much more severe and there should be visible lesions which you dont have.

Hence this is unlikely to be HPV.

Let me know if you need any more clarifications.

Folliculitis

Hi,

These tiny white bumps seems to be arising from inflammation of root of hair follicles. This is called folliculitis.

Please shave the area and keep it dry. They will disappear in 15 days.
