What Causes Diarrhea After Discontinuing Cipro And Metronidazole?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Dec 2014
Question: My dr has just taken me off Cipro and metronidazole after 30 hrs as site effect of diarrhea was too severe, now will be taking Augmentin. Is there anything I can eat other than water? A CT scan Friday revealed a lerge but not painful kidney stone which will be dealt with this week, as well as "mild" diverticulitis. I am a 75 yr old underweight female (126 lbs, 5'4") who has never had either condition before. Dr suggested rice or banana which seems perhaps too solid. What about ice cream,or chicken broth? Thanks so much. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
can take chicken broth. avoid ice cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You can take chicken broth without the fat.

I would advise against ice cream as milk can sometimes worsen the diarrhoea.

You can take Yogurt or curds .you can take rice and bananas as suggested by your doctor.

Fruit juices without the pulp can be consumed but avoid packed frout juices as it contains preservatives which can worsen diarrhoea.

You can take sports drinks or ORS

Hope this helps
