Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
The menstrual delay could be due to the strict diet and exercise.
However, if you are sexually active, then pregnancy needs to be conclusively ruled out.
Also, at 44, the delay could be due to hormonal disturbances at peri menopause or endometrial hyperplasia etc.
So it is best to consult a gynecologist before assuming anything.
That said, there is no method that can bring on your period in a day or two , reliably, unless it naturally starts.
For inducing a period, progesterone withdrawal method is used.
In this method, tablets like Meprate , Deviry etc are given twice a day for 5 - 7 days.
ONce stopped, bleeding will result in a week, thus, as you can see, you would definitely need more than 2 days to induce your period.
If you do not wish to bleed for a certain period, let me know during what dates you wish to avoid bleeding.
Since the period is delayed, it is more reliable to postpone it by taking the same tablets and then stopping them when you are alright with the bleeding.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Take care.

Thank you doctor. As for pregnancy , that can be ruled out. I would like to explore the option for delaying my period in that case. I would like to take medication accordingly. I hope that the medication will not result in weight gain or hindrance in weightloss as I have been putting in a lot of diligent effort in losing weight.
Kindly suggest OTC drugs to delay my period by a week atleast.

Thanks
XXXX

Brief Answer:
CAN TAKE MEPRATE.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the appreciation.
Once again the caveat ( warning bell ) - it is best to consult a gynecologist and rule out the cause of delayed cycles.
A pelvic ultrasound scan and hormones ( FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin ) should be measured.
If you want to ignore that important step, you can take tablets like Meprate 10 mg twice a day as long as you wish to delay your period.
Once you stop the drug, you would bleed within a week at the most, provided no other pathology is present.
You should start the medication as soon as possible.
Take care.

Dear doctor , thanks for your advice. I will definitely follow up with a visit to my gynaec. Meanwhile I have started getting cramps , but no bleeding. Can you suggest something to help with the pain? Also is it ok to walk during periods? I walk about 5-6 kms daily. Also I workout in a gym every alternate day. Do I need to change my exercise routine during this period?

Detailed Answer:
If you have been always following this routine, go ahead, I dont see any need to stop it.
Have you started Meprate ?
You can take Buscopan or Spasmoproxyvon or Meftal Spas to ease the cramps.
Take care.
