What Causes Delayed Menstruation, Spotting And Lower Back Pain?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Jan 2015
Question: Hi. I haven't had a cycle since July. It is now December and for the past 5 days I have had very light bleeding. I wore a pad because I thought it was my cycle but the pad has a small drop of blood after 24 hours. The blood only appears really when I wipe after urinating. I'm also experiencing pain in my lower back on the right side. Is this just a very light cycle or could it be something else.

Brief Answer:
Need further information

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, I understand your concern.

In my opinion it might be a renal stone or any pelvic pathology according to your given history.

I believe the more information a person gives the better is the doctor’s reply. Thus it improves the satisfaction

levels of both. Hence please answer the

following…........

1) Do you have history irregular cycles before July?
2) Have you done any investigations like ultrasound scan or any other?
3) Are you taking any medication for any problem?
4) What is your marital status?
5) Do you have burning urination or any other urinary complaints?
6) Do you have fever?
7) Do you have pain abdomen?
8) May I know your height and weight?

kindly provide me the information for further discussion.
Looking forward to hear from you.

best regards....dr.srilatha

Yes I am married. I'm currently not taking any medication. I was on birth control for about 2 years and stopped taking it in August because of persistent headaches, nausea, and fatigue. I have not been evaluated by a doctor but I am scheduled to have a pap done in a few weeks.

No abdominal pain and no fever that I can tell. I'm 5'6 and weigh 220 lbs. I also currently gained weight..when i first stated my birth control I was taking lo Fe 24 I think and in feburary they switched to ministrin and that's when I had problems with the headaches and weight gain. I put on 20 lbs during the time that I was taking them. Before I have maintained my weight for four years until then

Brief Answer:
It might be a period

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your information.

In my opinion, after the stoppage of contraceptive pills it will take upto 6 months for normal menstruation to occur in 90%.

But fertility may be delayed due to delayed return of ovulation.

It's good to know that there is no fever, pain abdomen and other urinary problems.

The spotting you got this time might be light period. And nothing to worry about that.

You can check for the period next month ie., how it is going to be.

When you go for the pap test, I suggest you to get an ultrasound done to rule out any abnormality.

But your weight is not appropriate to your height.

This increased weight may effect your fertility.

So decrease your weight by doing:-
1)exercise daily.
2)Taking low calorie diet.
3)Avoid junk food and take healthy food .

Hope this satisfies your query.

Good luck...Dr.srilatha
