Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: Please help. I always have a regular 27-30 day cycle. I am now on day 37 and still no period. Pregnancy test negative. My day21 progesterone was less than 1. My doctor says I could be pregnant but too early to tell as I may have low hormone in urine. Do you think I could be pregnant. Hence all I have is mood swings and lower back pain. My periods are never ever late

Brief Answer:
Please get serum beta hCG blood test done

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I understand your concerns about delayed periods.

It is possible that you could be pregnant and this may not have showed up on urine pregnancy test as it is very early.

Please get serum beta hCG blood test done to confirm pregnancy accurately.

Don't worry about low progesterone hormone.

Do I have a definite chance of be pregnant. My doctor won't do blood test for another week. When should I try another test? Is it right you can be at least 6 weeks before you get positive urine test x

Brief Answer:
5 weeks needed for urine test to be positive

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Urine test becomes positive between 5 to 6 weeks. Blood test is accurate and earliest to give result by four weeks.

Since your urine pregnancy test is negative you need blood test now.

I don't know why your doctor wanted to wait for another week. It is best done now.

I don't say that there is definitely chance of pregnancy. I can only say that there is possibility of pregnancy.

Let me know if you need any more clarifications.
