Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns about PCOD and delayed periods.

Following is my reply:

1) Periods are known to be delayed in patients with PCOD.

2) Birth control pills are not a cure for PCOD but just a way to regularize periods only as long as you are on pills.

3) I want to know if you are overweight or obese. IF so you need to reduce weight to regularize your periods which is permanent solution.

4) Let me know if you are trying to conceive so that I can offer you a different plan to conceive.

I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.

Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya

Thank you doctor.

Answering ur question,
Yes i am obese 82 kg.

My doctor adviced me to start planning for a baby, otherwise it would be difficult in future. I will be 29 in december this year. What do u advice? My doctor has really scared me by saying that i wont be able to have baby.

Do i have to take any madication to induce periods or wait for my weigth to reduce.

Brief Answer:
Weight loss iss very important

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for additional information.

It turned out to be what I guessed. Obesity is leading to irregular cycles rather than PCOD.

Most important thing for you as of now is to reduce your weight. Please follow low calorie diet ( about 100 cal per day) with exercise regimen under a trainer. Medications wont help.

To conceive a baby , first visit an infertility specialist in your city and get regular follicular growth scan done. This will tell when you ovulate. Even if ovulation is delayed, docotr will give you fertility drugs and injections to get good size egg and ask you to try for pregnancy on particular days when you are going to ovulate.

Meanwhile continue glyciphage and start follicular growth scan next cycle.

Remember that weight loss is extremely important to regularize cycles as well as conceive.

Let me know if you have anymore doubts.

Dr. Soumya

Brief Answer:
Please wait

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

As of now dont do anything as you have finished the pills recently. Wait for about 10 days for periods to start. If no periods by 10 days, I shall suggest medicines for the same. As of now , please wait.

Let me know if there is any confusion.

Dr. Soumya

Brief Answer:
No need to see doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You don't take any medicines now and no need to visit doctor.

You can take tablet like meprate 10 mg twice daily for 7 days. This will help in getting periods after stopping them.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

My periods were suppose to start on 21 may but as u know nothing yet.

So when do u think i should start with the medicine u suggested?

Does this medicine has any side effect of any sort?

I have been married for 5 months only, we r not planning for family rightnow, do I have to get all those scans to dine u talked about earlier?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Soumya (40 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Wait for some time as discussed earlier

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your periods are delayed about a week. Wait for another week . If no periods by then, you can start the medicines I suggested.

Scan I suggested can be done only after getting your periods that too if you are planning for a baby. If not no need.

Looking at your history I suggest you start planning for a family soon as it might become difficult later.

And what to do next time for my periods?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Soumya (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Follow the below instructions please

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You need to lose at least 10 % of weight to see the effect by regularising the cycle.

Till then you need to take the medicines for getting periods after completing 5 weeks after the periods. You have to follow this next time.

Let me know if you need any more help.
