default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jun 2014
Question: I have had hemmorides for years but lately there is one that seems attached to the skin near the anal area, its kinda hard and very sore and bleeds sometimes, Im a male 66 years old. It just seems like if it were lanced it would feel better. I passed a very large hard stool a few days ago, and that seemed to start all of this--Please I need relief.

Brief Answer:
Avoid constipation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I have gone through your queries and feel sorry for the situation you are in.

It is important to avoid constipation:
- drink plenty of water
- apply rectal enemas
-use laxatives like mocivol, lactulose

I also advise to take good hygienic measures locally:
- wash with warm water and mild soaps
- rinse with chamomile tea
- apply local anti-inflammatory cream containing local steroids and zinc oxide

If after applying such measures no improvement will be noted, I highly recommend to consult with a proctologist to evaluate the degree of hemorrhoids and discussing over the management strategy (medications only or surgical intervention).

Hope it was of help!
