What Causes Chills, Fever, Headache And Stomach Ache?
Question: My wife is suffering from shivering,fever,headache,stonach ache from four days
Doctors are saying she is having viral
Her temperature is from 100 to 103
But after giving her paracetmol 650 mg her temperature comes down
Her ultrasound abdomen,sgpt,malaria test are normal
Her cbp report shows wbc count of 4700
Is it normal?

Although viral fevers are frequently encountered and are associated with low or normal WBC count, as in this case, the shivering concerns me. Shivering is usually seen in malaria or urinary tract infection. I would insist you to ger her urine tested for routine microscopy and culture.
It is not normal and if the fever lasts for more than a week, a detailed workup might need to be done. If it subsides in between, you need not worry.

Got her urine cue done, it shows it is normal
even also done cbp now wbc are 6000
But yesterday night also she got chills with fever upto 103 degree gave her parecetmol 650 mg and in morning temprature was 100
After that temprature is in normal range for whole day
Generally fever starts with chills in evening around 7:30 pm and peaks by 9:30 pm and comes down after giving paracetmol 650.
Why is this so?
And how much time it will take for fever come down completly, since today is 5th day

Thanks for writing back. I understand your apprehensions. I would like to know the pus cell count in urine.
If nothing is found in urine or in malaria parasite test you would have to be patient and wait. Usually fever subsides in less than a week. If it persists for more than a week, you would have to get a blood test done to rule out typhoid.
Till then continue to give paracetamol as required. Also give tepid sponging.

yesterday has shown to doctor and doctor is suspecting typhoid and has started monocef 2 gm iv for three days along with azithromicin tablets
Two doses of iv has already been given but she is getting fever in evenings and in morning its normal
