What Causes Bubbles In Urine?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Nov 2015
Question: Recently I notice I have some bubbles in my urine. Not a lot but enough for me to take notice. It does not seem to be related to the force with which I urinate nor to whether we have cleaned the toilet bowl so I ruled those two out. I am a 58 years old and in the midst of menopause. Started taking calcium supplements and magnesium about a month and a half ago, otherwise no other meds. Should I get tested for protein?

Brief Answer:
If only occasionally then no issues, if persistent then get yourselfchecked

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Once in a while, passing frothy or foamy urine is fine and considered normal as there are numerous factors into play that can cause this (e.g. the pressure of the urine as mentioned by you).

But if your foamy urine seems to be more persistent then this could be a sign of a raised or high protein level in the urine. Depending on your protein level, there may be an abnormality of the kidneys, so report to your doctor for a urine analysis and a blood investigation to check on your kidney function.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
