Question: My sister was prescribed Zolpidem for insomnia. She took 3 pills and then stopped because she developed a "brain fog." When I checked all the side effects of Zolpidem, she has all of them. The problem is that she continues to have the brain fog, and insomnia with only 1-2 hours of sleep per night. She is experiencing chest pressure and pressure inside her head. She has been check out and all her vital signs are normal for everything. Now she is panicked that she will never recover! How can I help her get rid of the side effects? Brief Answer:
She is mostly having acute anxiety disorder with panic attack.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Zolpidem is good drug for insomnia.
By her history, she might be having anxiety and panic disorder. And this might be the cause for her insomnia.
So along with insomnia, we should also treat anxiety and panic disorder.
And for this counselling sessions by psychologist are very important. Drugs like propranolol and flunarizine are also beneficial.
So discuss about counselling sessions and these drugs with her psychiatrist.
Don't worry, she will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your sister. Thanks.
