Question: Hi ,
My 5 yrs 10 mnths son having 2-3 white patches on scalp. And most (90%) of hairs in that patch are white. But its noticeable. He doesnt have thyroid or vit B 12 or d3 defeciency. He is fond of eating healthy food. We are vegeterian.
He had some boils on scalp in mar'12 and after applying b bact cream, all boils went followed by bald patches and after that in those bald patches some hair come as white. Nobody in our family has vitiligo.
Will melgain lotion and vitix gel will help him? From last 3 yrs it has not spread.
Just want to note when bald patches were there, he was hit with ball on d same region and after that incident, (after 2-3 months grey hair were noticed.

Brief Answer:
Vitiligo

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Judging from the query and the treatment prescribed, I can make out that the diagnosis is "Vitiligo" which is stable.

For, "Vitiligo" treatment options are plenty and treatment is long. Melgain lotion and Vitix gel are good choice. It is important to expose the spots to sunlight as well for 15-30 min daily, which I guess is easy because the patches are on scalp and therefore always exposed.

I would be able to guide you better if you can upload an Image of the affected area which clearly shows the "light coloured spots".

Regards

Brief Answer:
Vitiligo

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

You may apply colour or XXXXXXX or shave but that won't turn them back to black. You must continue with the treatment as advised.

Vitiligo is not contagious, and there are no specific precautions for others in the family.
