What Causes Blood Shoot Eyes?
I am concerned what is causing this. Should i be worried about this? What should i do?
It seems to be conjunctivitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concerns.
The conjunctiva in your eyes looks red and inflamed.
The redness in the white matter of your eyes comes from expanded blood vessels on the surface of your eye due to inflammation, usually from some form of irritation or infection.
The most common causes for bloodshot eyes are:
-Allergic conjunctivitis
-Bacterial conjunctivitis
-Viral conjunctivitis
-Episcleritis or scleritis.
It is very important to know the associative symptoms for example if you have such symptoms:
-eye pain or discomfort, headache, itchy sensation , photophobia ,discharge .
-symptoms of nose secretions ,cough ,body itching etc.
-Vision changes
Since you have a long time with this symptom (at least 6 week ) most likely it is related to allergic conjunctivitis because viral or bacterial infections would have resolved in 6 months.
I would suggest to consult an eye specialist (oculist doctor) and get examined.
A detailed medical history and careful examination is necessary to exclude serious pathological causes.
Since it has been there for more then 6 months it is not a urgent issue but you need to get examined to figure out the right cause and take the right treatment.
Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have other questions or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.
Kind Regards!
