What Causes Blood In Stool?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Apr 2017
Question: I am a 36 year old male. For about a week now I've been experiencing some discomfort on a consistent basis in the rectum. The week prior I noticed some blood on the tissue a few times after a bowel movement. I have a feeling of always having to go even when I don't have to, along with mild burning/stinging sensation I experienced this two months ago as well but it went away after a few days. It is better when I'm on my feet whether I'm moving or standing still and rarely bothers me. It bothers me the most sitting down especially for a long time, after a shower, after a bowel movement, and sometimes during and after sexual activity. I also get a sensation of rectal leaking occasionally but there isn't any. I see no sign of external hemorrhoids and have never had anal sex of any sort. I've been researching internal hemorrhoids and everything I read says other than blood on the tissue you wouldn't know they are there so I'm a little conflicted.

Brief Answer:
Needs work up and management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. All your symptoms are not worrisome except blood in stools. That make your anal examination and rectal studies necessary to rule out any underlying cause. It could eb anal fissure, anal tag, hemorrhoid or some polyp. Needs to be examined, evaluated, rectal tones and manometry need to be done to rule out any incontinence. Also bowel studies need to be done and any indigestion or intolerance needs to be evaluated. Irritable bowel syndrome need to be considered too.

Instead of self diagnosing on internet, i would like you to visit a local physician, let them run some baseline labs and correlate the symptoms clinically and we will have an idea what is causing this blood in stools.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
