Posted on Wed, 24 Sep 2014
Question: hi i recently checked my hormones and my thyroid due to severe bloating during my period. up to 10 pounds. also everytime i would exercise i would drink alot of water but would not pee that much... having difficulty losing weight but the only thing they told me is eliminate salt and maybe sluggish lymphatic system... my think is could i just be dehydrated...

i also bought some lasix from tijuana and took them and peeind one day well but there second day i hardly peeing. even though i was drinking atleast two litters of water ...so i just stopped taking it seemed weird to me that they werent doing what others say.

Brief Answer:
Fluid chart

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern.
What did your thyroid test show? Could you attach those reports?
Lasix only removes water from body and infact it could lead o dehydration. Did you recently have some blood works for kidneys? ( creatinine ?)
It would be helpful to keep an input/output chart. This means that you can write down the total amount of water ( and all other fluids) in a day and the exact anount of urine you pass in a day. That way, we get an accurate measurement and can decide further

i have asked my doctor to send me to an endocronologist but says it is not necessary. some days i drink up to a gallon to see if i am dehydrated but i really never feel that preassure you get in your bladder. i will go but not like a good flow.. i wake up alot with eyes swollen but it goes away. my other parts of body are not swollen only my eyes and my belly feels full of water but it comes out slowly. i will check if they did a creatine test. i was went to the doctor because i felt sick and my potassium what high but one week later it went back to normal.

i checked and my last creatine test was .78

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:

Good day,
Aplologies for the delay in reply. Was held up in the clinic. Your creatinine is good and that eans your kidneys are good too. That means that the urine should come out proportionate to the water you drink. If it doesnt there are only two possibilities.
1) Obstruction in the urine draining system.
2) Retention of water due to excess ADH hormone ( very rare). In this you wiill also develop low blood sodium which make you tired and drowsy.

As i metioned earlier, keeping a chart of your actual measured urine output and fluid intake will be extremly helpful.
As an endocrinologist, in this situation this is wahat we reuest patients to do so that we get an assessment of fluid status.

Binu

Brief Answer:
Hello

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Yes, you may discuss various possibilities with your doctor. With in the limitations of an on line consultation, the above are few of the possibilities which i could think of. However, you doc will be able to examine you and get a detailed history. This is far important than doing enless blood tests.
Wish you good health
