What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Sore Breasts After Getting An IUI Done?
Question: Hello,I'm a 28 year female. I had my IUI done on 19th August. My doctor had prescribed progesterone tablets for 2 weeks.She asked me to do a home pregnancy test after 14 days. I did a UPT today after one day of missed period but it was negative. I'm having lower abdominal cramps now and then and my breasts feel little sore.No signs of nausea or vomiting.Are my periods expected after I stop the progesterone tablets or should I wait for a positive result?Moreover the prescribed amount of progesterone tablets get over today.Should I do a refill or wait for my period to start naturally? Does progesterone tablets delay periods? Please clarify. Thank you.

It is suggestive of upcoming periods and negative outcome of IUI.
You can leave the progesterone and wait for periods which will ensue in 2-5 days after stopping progesterone.
And then meet your gynecologist on day 2 of periods for fresh cycle of induction.

Thank you for your reply. The first IUI did not delay my periods even by one day and my breasts stopped becoming sore 3 days before expected period inspite of continuing to take progesterone tablets till my period started.
But this IUI cycle, I still have sore breasts and light abdominal cramps. I don't understand why it is different in this cycle as it is giving me false hopes. Please help me in understanding the problem.

It is common to have little derangement in cycle because of progesterone because at times internal hormones take time to recover from external supplements.
And if you are scared that in case you are pregnant but it is not showing on urine test (though less chances) then even after stopping progesterone periods won't happen with no harmful effects on baby.
So just stop progesterone and wait for your periods.
