What Casues Excessive Vaginal Discharge?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Dec 2014
Question: Two weeks ago I experienced large amounts of discharge. Clear and watery like. It was after my period so I didn't think too much about it. Then a week later I started having burning and itching around my clitorous. I have been applying Vagisil regularly to help with the discomfort. Last night I looked and there were just a few little white bumps on the lip close to my clitorous. I easily wiped the heads off and there was not much discharge and no blood from them. It was very sore. What could these bumps be? They hurt. I have had only sexual partner, my husband. And I am freaking out. There isn't any swelling, strange odor, color change. Help!

Brief Answer:
It might be Fungal Infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) You seem to be having fungal infection of the vagina and vulval area.

2) The discharge, white spots as well as itching are suggestive of the same.

3) This is not STD. Dont worry.

4) Vagisil will not help you.

5) Please apply over the counter available antifungal ointments for one week and you will be better.

Thank you so much for your help. This morning after showering and reading your reply I checked again. It is still sore but nothing I can't stand. I pulled back the clitorous hood and there was a small pimple looking bump on the inside. Is that normal for a fungal infection? Is there any over the counter medication I should try? The burning is gone but the irritation is still there. Thanks again for your help, it's hard to make it to the doctor during this busy holiday season.

Brief Answer:
Seems like a Fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Yes, this is fungal infection.

You can try "Candid V6" vaginal suppositories or candid vaginal cream for local application on skin. I am not sure if they are available over the counter. You need to check.

After we spoke, I went and purchased Monistat 1 vaginal suppository along with the Monistat external cream. Overnight it has completely cleared up and the little bumps I had on the clitorial area is gone. I am experiencing some soreness in my buttocks cheek and legs but nothing serious. Is there anything else I should be doing? Do you think I'm in the clear? After reading online the symptoms of herpes, I am still a little worried. I have never had bumps or blisters like that before but from the descriptions I read it sounds like it. Am I just scaring myself? Ha.

Brief Answer:
Fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Since it is clearing up so fast it has to be fungal infection. Herpes do occur in same way but it recurs faster. This is not herpes.

Continue the medicines for a week for complete cure.
