Brief Answer:
It is haematoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Because of trauma, blood is collected in the calf. The collected blood migrated down to the ankle.
Because of the associated inflammation, there is pain and swelling in the affected calf, ankle and foot.
In similar cases, I ask for an Ultrasound of the affected area. If there is haematoma (clotted blood,I will evacuate it under anaesthesia.
If there is no clot and the swelling is due to simple edema, I advice absolute bed rest to the patient. I ask the patient to keep the limb in elevated position. I prescribe Antibiotics like Clindamycin capsule along with Cefuroxime tablet and anti inflammatory tablets to my patients with similar complaints. I also add tablet containing Trypsin and Chymotrypsin combination to reduce the edema.
Please consult your doctor and proceed.
Nothing to worry.
It will come down.
If you have any queries, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
