It seems that you are suffering from ankle bursitis leading to neuritis(inflammation of the nerves).You might have unknowlingly strained the soft tissues around the ankle causing swelling and pain.

If you are sure that you have not strained your ankle recently,then a possibility of gout (raised uric acid levels in blood) should be considered.

I suggest you to take anti-inflammatory analgesic tablets like ibuprofen,tramadol,paracetamol with proteolytic enzymes like trypsin,chymotrypsin, serratiopeptidase.

Folic acid and methylcobalamin tablets will give relief from burning pain. Application of local analgesic gel along with hot fomentation will be helpful.

Apply compression bandage around the ankle during the daytime.Take adequate rest.

If the symptoms do not improve within next 2 days,get an Xray and blood uric acid levels checked.Consult a nearby orthopaedician.
