Brief Answer:
If Pregnancy Test is positive kindly consult a Gynaecologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thanks for writing in to us at hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka and I am glad to be helping you with your query.

Urine pregnancy tests (UPT) usually give appropriate results after 7 - 10 days of missed date of periods. Hence, since her due date for expected menstruation was 25th april, you can get a UPT done.

Make sure you follow the instructions written on the kit.

If it comes positive, since you are not planning for a child kindly consult a Gynaecologist regarding Medical termination of Pregnancy using medical intervention with tablets such as Mifeprostone and misoprostol.

If it comes negative kindly repeat it after 5 days again to be reassured i.e; if she still doesnt get her periods.

If the UPT done after 5 days is still negative and she still doesnt get her periods, then consult a gynaecologist regarding further investigations like an ultrasonography.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .
Do write back if you have any further doubts.

If she is pregnant, will aborting it cause any side effects? If she is not pregnant, what can be done to cure Poly Cyst Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS)?
Does consuming papaya and sesame seed at this stage will cause natural miscarriage?

Brief Answer:
Medical abortion is advised if the patient wants termination of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing back to us.

If she is pregnant and opts for medical abortion after consulting a gynaecologist then it wont harm her as it is done with utmost care under aseptic methods. Also the contents of conception would be of only few days , hence can be aborted by medications itself.

Consuming papayas and sesame seeds can be tried but are not really helpful.

Also, trying out alternative ways like inserting papaya stick into the vagina and other unhealthy alternatives can lead to sepsis and do a lot of damage.

Hence please consult a gynaecologist to avoid any complications.

If she is not pregnant and still her periods are irregular , we cannot reach a conclusion of PCOS without any investigations. Hence , her hormone levels have to be checked along with Ultrasonography abdomen for further treatment.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .

At which week the stomach starts to harden? She tells that she is feeling little fat on the abdomen side. What does this mean?
If UPT is negative,to confirm it,Can I perform UPT and an ultrasonography on the same day?

Brief Answer:
USG and UPT neednot be done together .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.

I understand your anxiousness and worry. However, donot worry about accumulation of fat on the sides of the abdomen.

The stomach doesn't harden during pregnancy either. So please don't worry.

For pregnancy confirmation by ultrasonography ,it should be done after 5 weeks of last menstrual period .This is the time when the gestational sac can be visualised clearly.

Hence there is no point in doing USG and UPT on the same day.

Firstly , kindly do a UPT . If it is negative and she still doesn't get her periods then repeat the UPT after 5 days again. If it is still negative then consult a gynaecologist for Blood Pregnancy Tests (measuring hCG levels in the blood). Blood pregnancy tests are very sensitive for pregnancy. Hence, the doubts will get cleared.

If still she doesn't get her periods then the doctor may advise ultrasonography for ruling out any gynaecological problems.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .
