Question: Hi, I am 21, female and I just had my first sex a week back. my bf didn't use condom but made sure that he didn't cum inside me. Also I was on my periods. Since then we had sex 3-4 times. and now there is burning sensation near my vagina and it burns all the more when I urinate. Can you please tell me what is the cause of this and how can it be treated. It is really uncomfortable walking or doing any activity with burning sensation. Huh, how much time till I get the answer? I am super tensed...Please reply ASAP

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
It looks like you are suffering from a urinary tract infection which is quite common considering your age.

I would advice you to do the following

1. Seek medical attention as soon as possible for a urine routine and culture along with complete blood count and an ultrasound scan of the renal system.

2. You will have to be put on antibiotics. Most commonly a Fluroquinolone like Tab Levofloxacin for 14 days followed by a repeat urine routine.

3. If the urine grows an organism the antibiotic can be changed to what that organism is sensitive to.

4. Drink plenty of water
5. Use protection during intercourse and your partner should undergo a urine routine as well.

What is urine routine?

And is there no medication which i can do at home rather than going to a clinic?

It was my first sex, is it possible to have UTI

Thanks for writing again.

Urine routine means urine microscopic analysis. The medication needed to treat infection s a prescription only medicine and s not available over the counter.

You can get an infection even by dong sex just once.

Using Canesten 1% cream will only relieve the external symptoms of the fungal infection, such as itching and mild burning. it will not decrease the pain during urination and urine infection.

can you please prescribe any medication which i can get from pharmacy? especially to reduce the burning.....I tried coconut oil,,,but no use.

Hi again,

You will have to be put on antibiotics. Most commonly a Fluroquinolone like Tab Levofloxacin 500 mg once a day for 14 days. Common side effects are nausea headache constipation dizziness or mild pan abdomen. This medicine is available only on prescription.

You can also try for Nitrofurantoin 100 mg thrice a day for 14 days if it is available. Take this drug with food or milk, avoid missing any doses in between, and complete the entire course of therapy. This drug may cause dizziness and drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsy or dizzy.

It may also cause a brownish discoloration of the urine.
