default
Posted on Thu, 8 Jun 2017
Question: Hi I was in hospital for 2 weeks with a infected gall bladder & stones also infected pancreas. I also had trouble passing urine but that came back clear? Also came down with thrush wen I came home. Still having urinating & now it's burning inside constantly. I'm on my 3rd day canestan internally. However when doing the application tonight , red blood was on the applicator ( I stopped menstruating at 28 & I'm now 52). I had a look & googled a medical site. It looks like I have a prolapsed bladder & that's where the blood is coming from. Could I have scraped this whilst putting applicator in? I have a Drs apptment this morn at ten. Or shld I go to the nearest hosp which is an hr away?

Brief Answer:
Bleeding per vagina, need further evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic,

Prolapsed bladder/ uterus do not usually cause bleeding per vagina.

However, since you are using Canesten, I'd assume that you may be suffering from vaginal yeast infection. The vaginal epithelium can become very fragile while having a yeast infection. This fragility can lead to bleeding.

Other causes for bleeding from the vagina in a postmenopausal woman should also be looked into like vaginal polyps, atrophic vaginitis (can be associated with atrophic urethritis resulting in burning frequent urination), tumors in uterus and vagina.

Confirmation of diagnosis requires a pelvic examination as a first step, followed by other investigations as needed.

Don't worry, this is not a medical emergency. So, you can follow up with your doctor as already scheduled.

Hope this answers your question.
