Question: Hello Doctor,

I had an endoscopy done and was diagnosed with H Pylori. I just took my antibiotics today they gave me amoxcillin clarythromycin and pantoprazole for 10 days. I just wanted to know if this treatment will be successful and what are teh side effects. I am currently lifting weight. Is it safe to excersize? Please advise. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
It's safe to exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

treatment failures for H.pylori eradication may be as high as 20%. Potential side effects may include allergic reactions, stomach discomfort, diarrhea (and perhaps even pseudomembranous colitis), liver enzyme elevation and even hepatitis, constipation etc. The aforementioned (and the other) side effects are not very common and you should not be afraid of them. Most of them are usually self limited and mild. Sometimes (unpredictably) the side effects may be very serious.

There is no reason to stop exercising.

I hope I've helped!
